Are you starting your photography business and need some backgrounds for kid portraits? If so, you're likely wondering which ones you should have on hand for your customers. Here are some ideas for which kid photo backdrops you should have to make your photos more interesting.

Simple Color Backgrounds

You'll always want to have some solid color backgrounds on hand for those people that want a more generic background. These don't actually have to be completely solid backgrounds but should have some texture and gradients to them that will help them stand out a bit more. Having a variety of simple backgrounds in all of the primary colors is going to work great when you are trying to match a child's outfit to a suitable background that complements what they are wearing.

Seasonal Backgrounds

It is always nice to have some seasonable backgrounds that match the time of year. For example, a fall background that looks like there are leaves on the ground will be great for those kids getting back-to-school pictures or a winter background for those that want a holiday photo around Christmas. Spring backgrounds work great for those wanting Easter photos, and those customers that want to match the photos better to the time of the year that the photos were taken.

School Backgrounds

There are plenty of school backgrounds to pick from, depending on the direction that you want to go. A chalkboard background can be a good start since it looks very much like a classroom and can be a solid black color that works great for anything. You should also consider getting a background that simulates the look of an elementary school classroom. A school hallway or wall of lockers can also work great to make it look like the photos were taken at school.

Superhero Backgrounds

Younger children are going to love photo backgrounds that make them look like superheroes. It could be something as simple as clouds that make it look like they're flying in the sky, or stars that look like they are traveling through space. A fun cityscape can also help create some epic superhero photos if they are wearing a costume as well.

Fairy Tale Backgrounds

On the flip side, some children will really enjoy being photographed on a fairy tale background. This could include a princess castle in the background, a magical forest, or a ballroom for when they wear their favorite dress. These backdrops can really make their outfits pop in the photos.
